Welcome to the SFRBM-SAG homepage!
We would like to invite you to attend the VIII Meeting of the Society Free Radical Biology and Medicine-South American Group (VIII SFRBM-SAG) to be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, October 14-17, 2013.
Free radicals and antioxidants are the subject of a very active and comprehensive area of research; including topics ranging from basic chemistry and biology to medicine, and related disciplines. The understanding by which free radicals are involved in normal physiology and could be active participants in pathological conditions has advanced significantly in the last decades. It has given space to the current paradigm that a certain level of free radicals is necessary to maintain optimal biological functions.
The series of SFRBM meetings in South America have developed in meetings with outstanding scientific level. They were held every two years in Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay and attended by internationally recognized scientists and researchers from the region. This allowed boosting new scientific collaborations, developing challenging areas of research, and favoring the training of young investigators in first rated laboratories. The target audience includes medicine, biology, chemistry, nutrition, pharmacology, toxicology, plant and crop sciences, among other disciplines. This SFRBM-SAG will share one day of activities with the VI International Conference on Polyphenols and Health (ICPH6), with activities that will run until October 19th.
Culturally, Buenos Aires is a cosmopolitan city that offers a plethora of activities. For those coming from far, the magnificent possibilities of touring Argentina is a must. The mild and sunny October, favors pre- or post-congress travel to Patagonia glaciers, Iguazú falls, and whale watching in Puerto Madryn, among the many other touristic possibilities.
We look forward to meeting you in Buenos Aires this coming October.
