OCC 2006 Conference Information
Organizers:
Helmut Sies, President
Enrique Cadenas, Vice President
Lester Packer, Honorary President
The meeting Program included scientific sessions devoted to:
- OBESITY, OXIDATIVE STRESS, AND THE METABOLIC SYNDROME
- OBESITY, UNCOUPLING PROTEINS, AND MICRONUTRIENT ACTION
- DIETARY MODULATION OF CELL SIGNALING PATHWAYS
- MITOCHONDRIAL FUNCTION, AGING, AND DEGENERATIVE DISEASES
presentations to the meeting were published in the conference Book of Abstracts.
Special Events
A symposium and workshop will be devoted to cutting-edge research on the intracellular events mediating oxidative stress and proinflammatory processes in obesity and type II diabetes. Other sessions will highlight cellular and molecular mechanisms inherent in the progression of metabolic stress, phenotypic perspectives, and dietary interventions as well as the growing relevance of mitochondrial function to the metabolic syndrome, aging, and disease.
