OCC Sponsorship

OCC welcomes applications for sponsoring scientific (non-for profit) events up to the level of US$ 2000.00. This support may be used to co-finance Californian and worldwide conferences and events whose purposes include enhancing science and education in the field of oxygen biology and medicine with focus on oxidants and antioxidants, micronutrients, redox regulation, healthy aging and anti-aging strategies.

Preference will be given to events in developing regions of the world or in developed countries where the field needs a stimulus. Repeated requests to events already funded and held on a regular basis, or by the same organization are discouraged. The planned event should have not conflict with other OCC activities or activities sponsored by other organizations that fall within the OCC sphere of interest.

OCC support should be used for expenses related to the event organization. Special consideration will be given when the support is for promoting young scientists. For example in the form of excellence awards; i.e. Oxygen Club of California Young Investigator Awards (OCC-YIA) (click for facsimile of an award certificate .doc); and/or organizing an OCC lecture, session or symposium within a bigger event. When it is possible, as a courtesy an OCC representative attending the meeting should be part of the award selection committee, or chair a lecture, session, or symposium sponsored by OCC.

Sponsored events will be posted on both the OCC website and OCC Facebook to allow information to be widely available by the scientific community. Information about OCC events will also be regularly sent as a reminder in the months prior to sponsored events.

To apply for the sponsorship please complete the OCC application form and send to Cesar Fraga, Executive Vice-President (cfraga@ffyb.uba.ar). There is not an established time-frame for sending the application, but it should be received no later than three months before the event. Please, consider that funds are very limited and the later that you make the application, the lower is the possibility of getting funded.

Please consider that support of the OCC implies the following responsibilities:

1) Use of OCC funds appropriately.

2) Acknowledgement of the OCC support in all printed (e.g. pre-congress flyers, program, book of abstracts, etc.) and web-supported material. Funds will not be delivered until the organizers have clearly consolidated the Scientific Program, and acknowledge the OCC sponsorship in all printed and/or on line advertisement of the event (OCC logo is available here).

3) Sending a report to Cesar Fraga (cfraga@ffyb.uba.ar) within 2 weeks after the event. The report will be posted on the OCC website and Facebook. This report should inlcude: i) the main themes treated, as well as any breakthrough information (MS Word file 400-600 words); ii) the names of the young scientist(s) that were awarded OCC-YIA and/or other OCC recognition; and iii) a brief financial statement indicating the OCC contribution in relation to other income and expense. OCC welcomes material that may be posted in the OCC website and the OCC Facebook that will contain detailed information about the scientific event. Examples are PDF files of the program, book of abstracts, proceedings, and list of participants; social material as photographs, conference videos, and other audiovisual material. Of Particular interest is to reieve photos of Young Investigators awardees while receiving the award during the conference

4) Delivery of two copies of the printed book of abstracts and program to Oxygen Club of California; c/o Prof E. Cadenas, Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Pharmacy, University of Southern California, 1985 Zonal Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90089-9121, USA .(cadenas@usc.edu)
